Svetlana Loboda was born on October 18, 1982 in Kyiv. It was 23 years needed for the next Eurovision event to take place in that city. And 4 more years before Svetlana’s first chance to come to the ESC stage. However, she spent the time fruitful enough.
Studying piano, conducting, variety and jazz vocal, having the experience of composer, leading role actress in musical, TV host, designer, photographer, singer in Ukraine’s, Russia’s and CIS most popular girls band and finally a solo artist, in her 27 Svetlana has come up as one of the top music stars in her country.
From very early ages the future queen of epatage showed a strong tension for music and acting, showing the real home musicals for her parents and relatives on family holidays. Therefore Svetlana’s mother didn’t faced two choices what special courses to give her daughter study in. In the specialized music school Svetlana studied piano and at the same time mastered the art of singing and conducting.
Having finished the music school Svetlana didn’t give up her music studies and entered the department of variety and jazz singing at Kyiv Variety And Circus Academy. It was the time, when she becomes a participant of the band «Cappuccino». In 2003 Svetlana Loboda participates in the casting for the first ever Ukrainian professional musical The Equator, where she gets the leading role of Mirana.
On December 28, 2003, Svetlana starts a new band – «Catch». She works out the repertory and stage costumes for the band. That was her first professional experience of composer and designer.
In 2004 Svetlana came to the casting for «VIA Gra» band, well known in Russia, Ukraine, Belarus, Lithuania, Estonia, Latvia and having successful gigs in Japan and far across. Thanks to her vocal, choreography, and magnetic image she managed to surpass nearly 500 rivals and became a new soloist of «VIA Gra». Svetlana’s first appearance as a participant of the band was a performance in the contest show «Star Factory» (the Ukrainian and Russian analogue of «American Idol»).
At the end of November 2004 Svetlana Loboda together with Alexander Shyrkov and their comany «S&A;music group Ltd» starts her solo career and shoots a music video «Cherno-Belaya Zima» (Black-and-white Winter) and in a year, in November 2005, she released her début album «Ty Ne Zabudesh» (You Won’t Forget).
Svetlana’s fourth single and video «Cherny Angel» (Black Angel) with Nadezhda Granovskaya (Nadezhda Meikher), Svetlana’s close friend and incidentally ex-participant of «VIA Gra», appearing in it became a true landmark.
In 2006, Svetlana works as the presenter of the TV program «ShowMania» on air of famous all-Ukrainian TV channel «Novyi Kanal» and in 2007 becomes the host of «Miss CIS» on «TET» TV channel. At the same time the singer started a tourist agency of her own «Happy Vacations».
On October 2007, Svetlana launches the exhibition of her own photo art-works dedicated to her trip to India.
In Spring 2008, the singer released the album «Ne Macho» (Not a macho).
April 2008 saw the launch of her own fashion line wearing the name «F*ck the macho». The scandalous, as it may seem, idea becomes the popular trend and stylish concept, expressing social protest against false glamorous trends and sticky stereotypes.
The creative potential of Svetlana doesn’t end up with the described. Later on, in Autumn 2008, she tries herself as the script writer for the music video «Za chto» (For what). In December 2008 the video comes up on the Russian music channel «MUZ TV», her songs show up at ring-back-tone hit list of Russian «MegaPhone» mobile operator.
On October 18th, 2008, the day of her birthday, Svetlana receives Ukrainian National Olymp Award.
At the end of 2008 Svetlana together with DJ Lutique produce new club track By your side.
The single reaches the top of national charts and goes on air far abroad, namely in Macao (China).
In Spring 2009 «Be My Valentine» single is presented on the Ukraine’s national pre-selection by Svetlana Loboda in cooperation with «S&A;Music Group Ltd.» and her patner Alexander Shyrkov.
On March 8th, 2009 Svetlana gets the highest rates from both TV viewers and professional jury during the Ukrainian national final for ESC’09.
